Stoic Theatre at UST

Mission

The University of St. Thomas is committed to the Catholic intellectual tradition and dialogue between faith and reason. As a comprehensive university grounded in the liberal arts, we educate you to think critically, communicate effectively, succeed professionally and lead ethically. By pursuing excellence in teaching, scholarship and service, we embody and instill in you the core values of our founders, the Basilian Fathers.

About

The drama program at UST prepares students of diverse backgrounds to compete successfully in a wide variety of theater- and performance-related pursuits. Our small size allows for a personal, intensive, conservatory-style program offering considerable one-on-one training. Freshmen and new transfer students are equally eligible to audition for major roles. Students will:

  • Develop as artists in their own right
  • Become flexible and creative problem solvers
  • Think outside the box
  • Communicate clearly
  • Demonstrate compelling public presence
  • Learn to work collaboratively

Recent graduates have worked as the following: actors on stage, in films and for television, playwrights, stagehands, voice-over talent, makeup artists, scenic and costume designers, directors, technical directors, stage managers and theater arts teachers. Recent graduates have been accepted to MFA acting programs, film school and law school.

Students can focus on their own interest among acting, directing, playwriting or design. Our annual season is comprised of five productions with at least one being a musical and one being a play for children.

Prospective students, please call 713-525-3520 to reserve complimentary tickets to one of our productions.
